I actually agree with you about the "big guns", in fact I wrote about my appreciation for them in a previous posting "Bring on the BestSellers" http://lineaday.blogspot.com/2009/09/bring-on-bestsellers.html

Best of look with your books. Hopefully we'll both eventually become "big guns".Roy Pickeringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17018762916459983700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1075282594114025046.post-15807919194652937432010-06-23T10:22:46.392-07:002010-06-23T10:22:46.392-07:00I think you have several valid points. I am thankful to be published by a "big corporation"; Novels like Twilight and huge commercial "fads" open doors for my books that don't have as many followers. My novels, for some reason I don't dare ask, have found a place on the shelves because my publishers believe they should be there -- even if my books haven't sold a bazillion copies. Publishing has always been about profit. But those profits open doors to others that might not have otherwise been able to enter, writing books that are risky, experimental, and sometimes those risks pay off ... BIG. But if they don't, the publisher will continue to take those risks because TWILIGHT lets them. And lots of great novels could never have found their way out there without self -publishing; however, self published books, unfortunately, often get lost in the piles unless they have savvy marketing and somebody pushing them along the way.
Lots of interesting ideas. I enjoyed your blog. I, for one, am so grateful for the "big guns." :-)Because of them, I get to lob a stone from my slingshot every now and again.Heidi Ayarbehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01549014282157553725noreply@blogger.com
